Carmello was great
I live in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and decided to try Carmello tomatoes, thanks to a recommendation on an Alabama agricultural website. I had a local greenhouse start the seeds for me, and I planted the sprouts in mid-March. They went crazy, and provided the best tomato crop I've had in years. It might have been due in part to finally getting my soil right, balancing nutrients with pH. Tomatoes were generally medium sized, with nice balance between acid and flavor, with great texture and firmness. Nice red color. Plants were far enough apart to avoid diseases and promote mature fruit. Vines were pruned back to two main stalks at most. Interestingly, the window for mature fruit and the vine and eating or processing them was only a few days. Fruit started maturing in early June, and continue through mid-July as this is written. I will definitely grow them again next year.
