Better option than plastic

Bought 6 for my grandson. Previously, was using plastic water bottles but they began taking on an odor. Bottles were only filled with water and cleaned in the dishwasher. Don’t know if the dishwasher heat or possibly the dishwasher detergent caused it. I feel that the stainless steel is a better alternative.
