The extension bar had too tight of tolerances on the OD so the fit up is very difficult, especially with some sand involved. I ended up grinding the bar down a little bit to make it fit.

Added comfort
I prefer to lay pretty flat in my hammock and having the extra length to the stand makes it even more comfortable doing so.
