Fit & Finish excellent, design is perfect for "blade buffing"

This baseplate was bought separately with the top cap because I wanted my razor configured with the thin bar handle (non-standard). The teeth are nice and fine just the way I like them. Polishing is excellent, in keeping with top cap and handle finish, The aggressive bend allows for safe disassembly with the top cap facing down on a surface such as a leather mat, index & middle finger on the posts pressing down firmly, and then using a clenched fist to twist the handle counterclockwise. This is safer than other razors, where the fingers could slip off, because the baseplate is flat on the bottom; but with this one its aggressive curve makes it safe and inspires confidence. Fit & finish is perfectly aligned, no blade alignment issues. Blade buffing is possible, because the centre teeth and side teeth brace the edge of the blade, so after doing a chin shave and cleaning the blade off, it can be "buffed" on a leather strop as you would a straight razor, before doing other sections of the face. I like to buff both sides, disassembling and flipping the blade each time. This is one of the few razors that have the option of doing this, it requires a strong torque, and the teeth bracing the backside of the blade for maximum effectiveness and rigidity when stropping. This is important when blades need to go for two or more shaves, and is best done with completely uncoated carbon steel blades as on most straight razors, which won't slip as much when stropping, and won't cause corrosive damage to the leather as non-stick coatings would do. Highly recommended to purchase this if you would like a special configuration of the BBS OC razor if you don't mind paying a little extra, and the thin bar handle is strongly recommended with this one. Very fast international shipping (I ordered from Italy); as for the “OC” base plate... WOW! I've tried it in various conditions and it's always given me a great feeling, and for the mild-medium category, I found it efficient and very comfortable.
