I had been essentially unable to play the high E through G anywhere near good intonation using either of two mouthpieces I had been using. With the Bakun mouthpiece I was able to play them more easily and with intonation much closer to correct pitch. It is always a struggle to play the upper range on the Eb sopranino with perfect intonation but I am much closer that I was.

I do like this mouthpiece! I was looking for something to help tame my Yamaha YCL681ii Eb clarinet. I selected the “G” model because it was said to be darker sounding and I think it is. I use it with a Backun grenadilla bell, a Rovner ligature, cut down Bb clarinet reeds and a custom made Amboyna wood barrel. The sound still is somewhat bright, but not nearly as obnoxious as it was.
I play mostly in small groups and this suits that situation.

I wanted a warmer, darker sound for my Eb clarinet, and since I don't play it regularly, I didn't want to spend a ton of money. The Backun Vocalese G mouthpiece was the perfect purchase! The screechiness is considerably lessened, and intonation is vastly improved. This one's a keeper!
