Got Grits Set
This set specifically is a solid B for me. When I first tried the cleansing oil, it was just super thick and felt like it pulled on my skin when I was using it. Half a pea sized amount per the instructions definitely was not enough, so I went through the travel size pretty quickly. The bottle is also a simple screw cap, so it took time for the oil to come out and also hard to control the amount used. I also didn't get as much grit, if at all, compared to other Japanese-brand oil cleansers I used. While I didn't get much grit, I do feel like using the oil cleanser day and night with the goat milk cleanser has improved my skin.
I do like the charcoal mask - it's not a holy grail, but a solid charcoal mask.
Bottom Line for me - if you're going to try the oil cleanser, just try the full sized bottle.

I gave this a second try!
I found SB by chance on Instagram and followed because I wanted to support Asian, women-owned, and small businesses, and that the owner is unapologetic about her opinions and is transparent about her business practices is a bonus! My skin is quite sensitive and I have to be extra careful when I try new skincare products. I try to go as clean as I can and spent quite a bit on Credo last year, so I wasn't really looking to buy anything. But I was intrigued by this Got Grits set, and thought maybe it might also help my tween who's on the cusp of puberty.
The first time I tried both products, my skin reacted quite badly-- it stung when I first applied the mask, and when I washed it off, I found red bumps on the areas where I applied the mask. Needless to say I was really disappointed, because the set isn't cheap! But I gave it a second try a couple of weeks later, and am now hooked on the results! My skin is super smooth afterward, and I haven't had any terrible reactions since that first time.
I really like both products on their own and together. The VCO washes off surprising easily and does not leave any oily or tacky residue. I imagine it'd be a gentle eye makeup remover! I've found the best method to wash off BCM is in the shower, where I can also exfoliate my décolleté area with the diluted mask that was being washed off. I still have more than half of the VCO but will be placing an order of the full-sized BCM soon!
