Pole Vault Band - Between Stimulus and Response there is Space

Mindfullness for my PV Campers

I ordered these bands to give to our pole vault camp athletes this summer after a returning camper and Rocket Man club member showed me on Team Hoot's Instagram account how cool he thinks they are! Then, he pulled out his copy of The Pole Vault Toolbox (last year's giveaway) to show me one of the things he's working on. I was incredibly proud in that moment -- proud of Mason for taking all the steps to help himself improve, and proud of me for introducing our kids to you and having verifiable proof that they're benefiting from the knowledge you so freely and expertly share. A gift for me (the blue bracelet, "life is an adventure and curiosity will get you there") was included in the shipment with a handwritten note, further confirmation that Shawn Francis is the GOAT both in sport and in wisdom. We are all better thanks to you! These bracelets will be SUCH a great surprise for our campers! I can't wait to conduct the session about how to use them and guide them toward a lifetime of mindfulness. Thank you!

As an educator, I wear this to remind myself not to immediately react when may students say questionable words. To take that moment and breathe and think about what is really happening. I try to teach students to live in that space before they react. And as a language arts teacher, literary quotes are amazing.
