Great Mobile Rig & BridgeCom Extras

I took advantage of the Labor Day sale that BridgeCom offered with the AT-D578UVIII Plus and I was prepared to wait for delivery but BridgeCom had the radio to me by the end of that short week in rural NH. There's literally tons of functionality with this radio and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to not only operate on VHF and UHF but also 1.25M, as well as DMR, APRS, listen to airbands, and have GPS functionality, and crossband repeat which I haven't played with yet. I'm a relatively new ham but I think I've truly found my long-term "local" radio. So in addition to this highly functional radio, BridgeCom included the Ultimate Codeplug which I found very helpful. I was prepared to build out my own but importing their codeplug with preconfigured Zones and Scan Groups took a lot of busy work off my plate, in addition to those there's ~ 900 digital talk groups and their digital contact list which numers in the 10s of thousands. BridgeCom also included their BridgeCom University with multiple videos across a broad range of the D578 feature set. Some are pretty basic, really geared towards those that are new ham radio whereas others can help you with some of the more advanced features. The one knock I would give this radio has to do with the CPS. In the older 5888UVIII that this D578 is replacing for me, that CPS had find/replace functionality whereas the CPS for the D578 does not. So, if you need to make changes across multiple channels you need to export your codeplug to CSV format, do you updates there, then import that updated CSV. Not a big deal, really just a change in my workflow but not quite as convenient as what I'm used to.

Solid and reliable bug free radio

My AnyTone 878 is a joy to use and was a snap to program using the Ultra Code Plug. I should have bought it a long time ago.
