Mixed Emotions

Nice, but...

I REALLY like this scent. It's divisive, giving me Mixed Emotions. Well played, Byredo. The first impression on my skin is a vast burst of syrupy candy, almost overwhelming, but oddly addictive. Within ten minutes it softened into a gentler sweetness that somehow brought up a memory of my sister and the perfume she wore over 15 years ago. Nostalgic and a memory that caught me off guard. Around the half hour mark it started to remind me of a fruity shampoo, like a woman fresh out of the shower. Clean, bright and fruity, with a notable quality that I can only attribute to Garnier Fructise. An hour in and the woody notes came through causing it to become arguably masculine in a subtle way but it never tipped the balance for me. Sillage seems restrained and it sits close to the skin, very subdued in my opinion and you could definitely go heavier if you felt like it without offending anyone. Longevity isn't impressive, maybe 3-4 hours before it drops off dramatically, still noticable at this point though. Overall, I rather like the aroma. But on my skin it leans feminine and bright, fruity and clean, with only a very subtle woody/mesquite scent that is... maybe not the best. The dry down left me thinking: "mesquite chips on a grill with a gentle waft of black currant drifting from a nearby table" It's beautiful and challenging, but not something I'd personally wear. +1: creative, nostalgic, challenging, fun experience. +1: smells objectively good, at least in phases. –1: leans too feminine/bright for my taste. –1: weak longevity and restrained sillage.

I think that when you inhale the aroma of the perfume that originally belongs to person you miss, it can drive you crazy and can calm you down at the same time, so it’s definitely mixed emotions
