White Rice

Cozy and simple.

"White Rice" is a simple fragrance, but I don't mean to say that it isn't complex or interesting. What I mean is that the overall blend feels very aligned and direct when worn alone -- this fragrance knows exactly who she wants to be and she doesn't need to be anybody else lol, if that makes any sense. The top steam rice notes are nearly photo-realistic to me, almost like catching a whiff of someone's fragrance while walking past a rice steamer. That's the very very top note and it settles pretty fast, it's more of an "immediately out of the bottle" note. Middle note feels floral to me, a bit powdery. And the base note that settles most strongly on my skin is white musk. If I overspray, it can start to lean slightly soapy but it takes a LOT to get to that point. To me, it's quite striking and unique. This is very easy to wear and is understated enough to wear to an office job, which has become my personal top use for it. People mostly don't notice it at all unless they hug me or lean in for a kiss on the cheek, so I'd say it's fairly intimate. It's also quite layerable. This scent might not be forward enough for most people, but if you like a light, clean scent that can be layered easily with other scents, I very much recommend it. This will undoubtedly be one I save up for to get a full size bottle of -- but I can't lie, at $150+ for a 50ml bottle the cost is a little eye-popping to me, but the fragrance feels worth it for how versatile it is for my collection. I might get another decant before I fully invest. My $25 decant is about half-full still but I'm definitely going through it pretty fast over a month. This fragrance pairs particularly well with another from this studio that I got a decant of called Kimono, but together the powder notes definitely build a bit, so beware of that if you try them together. What I like about this perfume most is that if another fragrance is reading a little too sweet to me, this tones it down and blurs the sharper edges of whatever I layer it with. Definitely one of my new favorite studios.

Warm but not for me

I never smelled a rice perfume before so I wanted to give one a shot. I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like the starchy rice note and I was right. But if you like that sort of thing, this one is warm, rich, cozy, and smells like lightly toasted rice. It’s really very nice just not for me.

It’s so good!! I would say it’s unisex and smells so unique but I love it! It’s clean but there’s a warmth to it that makes me want to keep spraying more it’s addictive!
