This is the best plane iron I’ve ever used! The quality of the machining is amazing as is the quality of the edge the CPM Magnacut produces. I own both a 2” and 2-3/8” that I use in my Lie Nielsen #4 B and #4-1/2. I’m able to produce shavings in curly hard maple 8-10 microns thick after a final honing on my 13,000 Sigma Power stone. And they hold the edge far far longer than the A2 cryogenically treated factory iron. Amazing job on the plane irons Nick!!

These blades are "Magna"ficent. I've bought one for my Lie-Nielsens: No. 4 1/2, 5 1/2, 7 and No. 102. Although Lie Nielsens blades are already premium and retain a good edge, I thought I'd try a Lake Eerie blade to see the difference. After receiving the first blade, I saw that the blades are essentially perfectly made. They are properly stout and dead flat out of the box, meaning I haven't even had to utilize the ruler trick for touching up or flattening the back of the blade. In the description, it states that they are difficult to sharpen, but they are about the same as the L.N A2 steel, if not taking just a tad longer (seconds) on the stones. But they will retain that edge phenomenally, and the edge can be honed to be quite keen. I love these blades and would highly recommend them. In my experience, the Owner, Nick, is fully involved and has excellent customer service. he even personally responded to all of my emails. This is how craftsmanship and business should be done!

Sharpens easier than my A2 blades. Just as sharp and last as long as my PMV-11. The advantage of this blade is it can be purchased to upgrade Lie Nielsen planes. Great value.
