Det är så härligt med runtomsikten i Draumr UL. Den ny gröna färgen smälter verkligen in i omgivningen och de nya fickorna är klart bättre. Å så gott jag sover i den!

My New First Choice for Shelter On My Trips

I have and love a Draumr 5. 0 but am working to bring my pack weight down in my backpack and in my dry bag during my canoe trip portages. I therefore ordered a Draumr UL kit, which also let my brother try out my 5. 0 on a 5 night trip we just completed (he agreed it is the most comfortable sleep he has ever had while camping). I humbly admit that I did not know that the UL had been redesigned from the original version! I did however, immediately come to appreciate the weight AND volume savings in my dry bag. Setup was similar to my 5. 0. Although I never had trouble with the 5. 0 straps and buckles, I appreciate the redesign of the buckles on the UL straps. It’s more intuitive to properly insert them into the hammock. Setup was otherwise identical. Once inside with the bug net zipped up, I IMMEDIATELY noticed the reduction in excess netting over my 5. 0 design. This is perhaps my only quibble with my 5. 0 (netting in my face) and I hope Amok makes the same change to the 5. 0. On both of my hammocks, I attached a loop of guyline to the interior zipper tabs, allowing me to use my toe to grab the zipper and close it up. I find that method more convenient (and fun) to do than to pull the bottom of the hammock up towards me so I can reach the zippers. I admit that it’s easier to use the toe method on the 5. 0 when compared to the UL. I presume that is because the UL is a little more “flexible” than the 5. 0 which lets the fabric bunch up a bit, but I have adjusted my method. Another advantage I appreciate on my summer trips is that the UL improves upon the already great airflow in the 5. 0. I especially enjoyed it on a night where the temperature did not drop below 70° F (21° C). The added breeziness was nice. To summarize, the Draumr UL is a well-designed and streamlined version of the 5. 0 with all of the heavier 5. 0 hammock’s key features/benefits but with substantial weight and packed size savings. It will be my go-to kit for my backcountry camping trips.
