Very sharp and beautiful knife

Good multi purpose starter knife

Like one of the other reviews said, the knife is not crazy sharp out of the box. It glides really well through paper though and catches on your nail but users could try get it sharper. Balance of the knife is a few millimeters in front of the heel. Knife is perfect for push and pull cuts but not the best for rock chopping as the edge is quite flat. Would be nice if the heel and spine of the knife were slightly rounded as it is very square and digs into my hand. Not sure how this will fair in longer chopping sessions yet. Knife feels really good in my hand and I feel like I have a finer control over the knife than over a kitchen knife.

The knife came quickly and was packaged perfectly. The monied is a work of art. This is my first Japanese knife. It’s razor sharp out of the box and is perfect for everyday knife work, just say way from hard veggies, instead use a traditional chef knife with a blade angle of 20 degrees to tackle harder veggies. The knife feels good in the hand and is easy to control. I’ll be back for more!
