White Linen California Poppy

Honest to god, I’ve tried for YEARS to grow poppies & have failed until this year with these lovelies! Since I wasn’t sure I’d be successful, I sprinkled the seeds on the surface of a large container & imagine my shock when the tell-tale fern like foliage sprouting up! These were so fun & have lasted all summer as I continue to deadhead them (zone 6a MA). We had an extremely hot summer here in the Northeast so I’m not sure if that helped with my “success” or if I would’ve seen even more blooms had it not been so hot. The blooms are very dainty & delicate & close up at night or if the weather chills, & reopen the following day. I experienced most blooms lasting 2 days on average with 3 days being the max. The honey bees LOVE these! I’ve never seen so many honeybees surround a single bloom in my life! It was truly a sight! Give these a try if you’ve tried like me to grow poppies & didn’t have success in the past. These will be winners!
