Just the solution I was looking for. The birds initially stayed away from this new contraption that was on their feeder, but they figured it out.

Seed Catcher does a good job

This does a very good job catching the seed that falls from the bird feeder. We have a tube feeder with a cage around it. Very easy to attach and take off. The birds also eat the seed that falls into the catcher. Keeps the ground below much cleaner.
