Malus domestica 'Ellison's Orange'
Still a favorite of English organic growers because of its outstanding flavor, heavy cropping and resistance to scab. The sweet/tart, anise-like, crisp, juicy and aromatic flavor make it a great choice for...

Vigorous but mealy
I planted this in Seattle around St Patrick's Day 2024 and tried one of the ripe apples late August 2025 (it was planning to grow tons of apples but I limited it to only 6 in its first year)
I'd say the apple's flavor is reminscent of an orange creamiscle (or maybe an Otter Pop?). Not much tartness. The skin is fairly tough, though pretty. Sadly, the one I ate was mealy.
The tree is incredibly vigorous, though! It's growing branches and leaves like mad

Ellison’s Orange Apple - doing well
Received this on March 24. Our temps were already in the 90s. Unlike the Baby Crawford Peach that came with it, this one is doing well. I typically really like the quality of trees from Raintree as they have some of the best looking root systems I’ve seen through mail-order. They provide nice, solid, stock.

Ellison’s Orange Apple - Dwarf
The day my trees were delivered was our last night of cold weather. They were packaged very well. The next day I planted them in our garden area and within two days, we saw buds on the limbs and leaves popping out! Within a week, we saw multiple blooms. I removed the blooms to give them plant some time to develop its roots. I believe these trees will be beautiful as they fill in and grow a little taller. I can’t wait to get fruit! Great job, Raintree Nursery!
