82° Series 6.5mm LER Waterproof Eyepiece

I started out buying lower cost eyepieces, but after trying an ES 24mm 82-degree unit, I decided to try this one too. The ES eyepieces are much better than any of my other eyepieces. The 24mm is much better than any of the others I own. This 6.5mm is also very good. What I really notice about it is the easier "eye relief" compared to another 7mm "semi-premium" eyepiece that I tested it against. The ES 82-degree line of eyepieces are currently my favorite.

Nice bright, super clear, extremely sharp views. However, this eyepiece has a narrow field stop inside. Explore Scientific doesn't state the field stop diameter for this eyepiece. If you Google the field stop diameter, you'll find reports of the field stop being 29.4mm. It's actually the diameter of the eye lens (top glass you look through). The actual field stop of this eyepiece is probably around 9-10 millimeters. It appears to be just a fraction smaller than a known 9.6mm field stop of another eyepiece I own. This means you're not actually looking through a 29.4mm opening, but instead, a small ≈9-10mm opening inside the eyepiece. Some viewers will struggle to enjoy the view because of this small opening. You can shift your eye around the glass on top and see out to the edges of your field of view. But its not fun for some and reduces the overall experience. Unlike the non-LER eyepieces (11, 14, 18, 24, and 30mm) in the 82° series, you cannot see all of the field of view at once.
