Wyeast 1056 American Ale Yeast

Northern Brewer is great!

The gluten-free kit we got was easy, and we’re just waiting on the beer to carbonate. One thing to note is that Northern Brewer’s customer service is amazing!

Partially started

Chico is a wonderful yeast. No complaints about that; but the smack pack arrives partially expanded. No problem for me as I just poured it into a starter, but an inexperienced brewer might try smacking it and rupture the yeast all over his counter.

Plumpy

The yeast kit arrived mixed, the started and yeast had mixed. The bag has not exploded and I do have a second bag over it in my refrigerator. For the cost, and the possibility of the unit arriving ruptured, I think I’ll pass in the future and buy dry yeast for less dollars , even if the recipe calls for Wyeast.
