Apimaye Latches for Wooden Bee Hives

Fantastic Latches

I use flow supers and installed these on my wooden flow box so that I could attach it to my Apimaye. They work great!

A couple of issues.

I love my Apimaye bottom boards for wooden wear! This time I purchased a full Kahn conversion kit with the bottom board, lid, feeder, and these handles. One issue is that these are the same handles that go to the plastic app in my hives, which do not have hand notches cut into them. I tried several of my deep brewed boxes and when properly aligned the bottom part of the latch screw holes were right in the middle of the handholds, and therefore would not securely fasten against a solid surface. The second issue is that the screws are about a quarter of an inch too long for wooden wear and they poke through the inside. I had to grind them flat. So my conclusion is that these are just the standard Apimaye latches for their plastic hives that can be used on wooden boxes, they are Apimaye latches that have been designed specifically to work with wooden boxes. Therefore, you should expect that they may not be a perfect fit.
