Cute shoes to make
I wanted to try making doll shoes to save some money. I bought several patterns and downloaded some free ones too. This pattern for Plain Jane Shoes is by far the easiest. This pair that I am showing is the best that I have made. They are far from perfect, but with practice the shoes are getting a little better. The pattern is simple, but you will be practicing and you do need some materials. Above all you will need patience. Read the instructions and watch the video. It is such fun to me. Everyone should buy this pattern and give it a try.

First Shoes using the Plain Jane 18" doll shoe pattern
Instructions were clear and easy to follow. This is a first attempt and I am anxious to try again. Overall the shoes I made turned out OK. However, I did not have the recommended glue and just used the tacky glue on hand. It still worked, but the glue took longer to dry. Also used a carboard cereal box for the undersole. I used a fairly thin white satin for lining and when the glue dried, glue marks were visible on the inside soles. I used paper clips to hold the foam soles to the final shoe. Some of the clips left marks in the foam. These are not complaints about the pattern but just FYI. I used a very thin cotton for the shoe upper. Something like a batiste. I would use a heavier fabric next time, but still it went pretty well. I did not use a doll foot to assemble the shoes.
