Works fine, but needs adapting to suit cylindrical magnets
This is a solid, reasonably sturdy bar magnet swivel stand on a pin bearing. Bar magnet swivel bearings are a rarity on vendor sites these days, so I am grateful Arbor Scientific offers them. The bearing is very low friction and well made, allowing bar magnets to interact at a distance and respond to changes in ambient field, just as they should. These work very well. In my classrooms we use rare earth (nice, strong) cylindrical magnets rather than old school rectangular ceramic or alnico bar magnets. Much more interesting to students because they can visibly interact at quite long distances. However these swivel stands are flat on top, and my magnets would roll around and go off center. Better than using tape, I suggest making little adapters with a rectangular base to fit the stand platform, which have milled indents to fit a cylindrical bar magnet centered. Easy peasy.
