Tough Ripstop™ Orthopedic Dog Crate Bed Cover

A few tries - but now great success

We have a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy - now 11 months old- that had to go through 2 total hip replacements. During her recovery, she was clawing and digging at her crate mat, and this was a bad activity for her new hips recovery. We contacted K9 Ballistic to get one of their crate mats. The material was very sturdy, and seemed indestructible, but because it was not a thicker bed, we found our pup was putting her feet/legs through the lower end of the crate - another bad activity for new hips. We needed something indestructible and deeper. So we went with the crate bed - 2 of them because we had 2 crates - one for living area, one for bedroom. We had decided to go with the softer, more premium fabric on both - different fabric than we had on the crate mat. The depth of the bed was perfect - no more feet/legs out the lower edge of the crate, but our pup started digging and chewing this premium fabric. We did not consider her to be an aggressive chewer, but she was able damage the fabric very quickly. We contacted K9 Ballistic with their guarantee. They made it very easy to report and get replacements. We swapped out the premium for the tough ripstop. It seems we now have the perfect solution. Our pup still scratches the fabric and tries to chew, but so far it has held up beautifully, and in fact, the pup has started giving up on that activity. She is now 1 week away from her final checkup. Fingers crossed she will get an all clear, but many thanks to K9 Ballistic for making a great product and working with us to get the perfect solution for our pup. We never imagined a crate bed would make such a difference in our pup’s recovery, or in helping us to finally get a good night’s sleep, but these crate beds did both of those things.

My crazy dog cannot destroy it!

I purchased this cover to use over an existing foam mattress, and I can honestly say I’m beyond impressed with the quality. Five months ago, I adopted a German Shepherd with severe separation anxiety who has destroyed the inside of both a Ruffland kennel and a Lucky Duck kennel but this K9 Ballistics cover is still holding strong without a single tear. The durability is outstanding. You can tell the materials were carefully chosen to last, right down to the heavy-duty Velcro and zipper quality. It’s rare to find a product that actually lives up to the “durable” claims, especially with an anxious, high-energy dog, but this one absolutely does. If you have a destructive dog and are tired of replacing beds and covers, this product is worth every penny.

Two Bassett Hounds both heavy chewers. One finally tore up two of the corners then gave up chewing. Still under warranty and was quickly replaced. Great service. Both beds will last a long time now.
