old model vs new model

My old KBTS741 was about a dozen years old. It still makes good coffee, but ever since year 2 the little white button that the carafe presses has gotten balkier and balkier--so that I had to press the carafe onto it in just the right way. This got annoying. Now that I have the new one (where the button works with ease, astonishing after all the years of gyrations). Interestingly the new machine is noticeably lighter than the old. A little of that is a thinner cord, but the innards have been made lighter. We'll see if that has any effect on longevity. Now that I have the new machine I feel free to try to take the old apart and try to fix the button.
