This thermometer perfectly fit my needs for a separate mash pot in which I drilled a 13/16" hole fairly low down for various mash size and thickness. I use a metal plate for a heat shield. The design is clever, with a separate thermowell fitted with a groove for the 0-ring to make a complete water tight seal inside the pot. The thermowell itself is short enough to net get in the way with stirring the mash while firing the pot. Why there aren't more brew pot thermometers like this escapes me.
