Slighty altered recipe
Very pleased with the taste and turnout with this first time recipe even though I slightly altered it. I used two yeast strains (LalBrew New England American East Coast Ale Yeast & LalBrew Pomona - Modern Hybrid IPA Yeast). My brew size was also a little larger coming in at just under 6 gallons and that was due to my steeping of oats on the stove in a separate kettle- (it was a windy day and I wasn't interested in fighting temp control for 20 minutes with the big kettle on my propane burner. The boil in the big kettle was only 10 minutes. I did everything else as I normally do (amount of water in the kettle and the boil) As a result, my overall yield was the typical and expected 5 gallon with the over looked additional gallon I added from the steeped oats kettle. Regardless, F.G. was not a little higher than expected (perhaps due to increased volume and yeast strains used?) coming in at just under 7% ABV.
That said, the color is as expected, foam was tight as expected, mouthfeel maybe a little lighter than I expected, and but taste was absolutely fine- a lot of citrus notes and the absence of bitters was a pleasant surprise. Overall, a very enjoyable brew, and I will try it again, but I think I will stick with one yeast strain next time just to see.
