Aqara Smart Lock U400 and Doorbell Camera Hub G410

I recently purchased the U400 Smart Lock and G410 Doorbell Camera from The Technology Store. The ordering experience was smooth, with instant email confirmation, and delivery from Auckland to Wellington arrived the very next morning—even though I placed the order late in the day. Both devices were easy to install, but I ran into a couple of minor challenges: G410 Doorbell Camera My initial installation on a rough surface triggered the tamper sensor. I also forgot to disable the tamper alarm in the Aqara app before removing the unit, which resulted in a loud alert. After mounting the camera on a flat, thin panel, everything worked perfectly. U400 Smart Lock My door’s existing 38 mm hole was smaller than the recommended 50 mm for solid doors. I had to chisel the opening slightly to fit the deadbolt assembly. The internal cable is a tight fit, but the lock functions as expected. I’ve kept my mechanical chime because it produces a much more pleasant sound than the electronic chime included with the G410. To integrate it, I added a Matter switch from AliExpress for NZD 24, which works seamlessly. I do have two suggestions for future Aqara updates: Allow hard‑wired devices like the G410 to record continuously from trigger start to trigger end, instead of limiting recordings to around 12 clips. Reduce the minimum automation delay below one second to allow sub‑second timing for mechanical chime control. I’ll be forwarding these requests to Aqara NZ. Easy setup, solid performance

Easy installation using new holes rather than replacing existing deadbolt, installation video and basic visual guide easy to follow. Once installed setting up within the aqara app and linking to the included M100 hub was very easy, adding fingerprints and user codes a simple process in the app. Once setup in Aqara linking in to Home Assistant via Matter was pretty straightforward and all the main functions are exposed to HA (only main thing missing is user based logs within HA - it just says locked / unlocked and not by which user or by which method). After a week the performance has been great, doesnt lock itself when the door is open and solidly latches when closed. Fingerprint recognition is very fast and accurate for the whole family including the kids.
