love the roaster, hate the software

I’ve been getting consistently good roasts from the SR900. its temperature measure and control contribute to the results. I am delighted that it’s now possible to control the roast through software. unfortunately the interface (on an iPad) is excruciating to use. you have to guess when the cooling cycle will begin in order to establish the fan speed for it. setting up a profile is more time consuming and tedious than it should be — many taps and types to set the values. the main screen is laid out in a confusing way. saving a profile is also clunky. each save demands a name. iif you’re just fiddling with a profile you’ve tried, an update option rather than save as new should be available. the ideas are right, but are in desparate need of human-centric usability design. it would be useful as the product matures to provide more sample profiles — say a light roast or espresso profile. user-shared profiles could be another good addition.
