OUPV/Six-Pack Captain’s License - Online Course and Exam

Born and raised in Southern California, and I’ve been out on the water since I was a teenager either on my dad‘s boat or later in life on my own boat. I am doing this captain’s license primarily because I want the information. I’m about halfway through the class and I am absolutely loving it. The content reinforces what I already know through experience and of course it expands my knowledge because there’s just so much to know. The format is in intuitive. You get into a groove and start to understand the flow and it is really as much fun as it is work. I am already a better and more confident captain. For example, the other day I was in the marina I saw a barge and was happy to recognize the day shapes that were posted on its mast.

I don’t think I would change a single thing about this class! Go at your own pace, take all the practice tests both online and in the books, and you’ll be in good shape. With a busy schedule at work with overtime I was able to finish in about 3 weeks. If I had extra time I could have definitely finished in half of that. Any questions I had about any of the steps they responded almost right away and had the information I needed. I’m so happy with MLS I’m already going to upgrade to master. If you have any interest in getting your license, MLS is the way to go!

Been very pleased with course layout and content. An excellent refresher, and chucked in a way that makes learning easy.
