Great idea, flawed product

When we saw these small bedside purifiers with sunrise alarm features, we jumped at the opportunity to replace our larger Blueair purifier with them (in order to save floor space) and switch to a phone-less alarm solution that also helps brighten our very dark room in the morning. We loved the sunrise lighting and it genuinely did help us wake up, but there were a few glaring issues that made these little things the first Blueair products we’ve ever returned: 1. The lights on the top of the unit do not fully turn off (lowest setting is 10%), which illuminates the room at night. This is absurd and could easily be fixed via a software update, but then that would exacerbate issue #2 2. All the buttons (4 in total) are touch-sensitive lights/zones rather than physical buttons. This is totally fine when a device has 1 button, and manageable (though not ideal) when it has 2, but very annoying when there are multiple – especially in the morning. Additionally, unless your bed is significantly higher than your nightstands, you can’t really see any of the interface unless you sit up, because everything is on the top. 3. The fans create some sort of oscillating frequency/noise that is most noticeable on level 3 and gets significantly worse when both units are working simultaneously. The sound of the fans themselves is high-pitched and unpleasant compared to other Blueair products (likely because of its smaller but also proportionately taller, thinner form factor) but it was this strange undulating noise that made it impossible to keep the fans going at night, which is one of the main things we use a purifier (Level 3 for white noise and full purification at night; Auto for the rest of the day) Overall, I still believe this product is a great idea, and I would consider buying a newer model that fixed these issues, but I just can’t sleep with it in my room as it’s currently constructed.

Decent but disappointed that this product lacks auto activation and air quality detection like its bigger counterparts
