I committed the classic blunder. I lost my protected off-street garage parking in L.A. without immediately installing a Catalytic Converter shield. Night 2 street parking the cat on my 2009 Prius was stolen. The repair/replacement was $5,500. Never again. I researched & landed on the internet's opinion that Miller Cat Shield is the best. I went for the full Monty: stainless steel with the deadbolt. The quality of the product which quickly arrived did not disappoint. I used a recommended installer (Dave Frost in Culver City) and it went off without a hitch. The look of the shield resembles a Horseshoe Crab. Will the Cat Shield last 300 million years like the Horseshoe Crab? I dunno. But I am confident I have supreme catalytic converter protection is an untamed world.

How can you tell?

My mechanic installed the shield. The question as far as rating is, how do you know how if it’s actually preventing theft? I’m happy with the product but I had my Prius for 20 years before a theft occurred. I’m assuming the shield will act as a deterrent.

I paid the extra and ordered the stainless steel shipped for a Prius and the quality is second to none and the overall engineering is magnificent. We all know if a thief wants something they'll eventually get it but I feel with the Millercat shield they'll have to put in a lot of work to get it off.
