Solid Sleeping Pad

The R03 tries to satisfy a number of nice-to-haves when people are shopping for a sleeping pad. Instead of the standard 20” wide pad, it’s 25”; instead of a bladder to blow up the pad, you get a micro Flextail pump which houses very conveniently inside the pad. While not the highest R-Value, it’s good enough for 3-seasons (most camping scenarios)—and this is coming from a recent backpacking trip on the CT, where temps averaged in between the mid 30s to low 40s at night. All of this in a fairly light package (20.1 oz with the pump) at a very competitive price. I purchased during a site-wide sale for $119 (MSRP $150), and you just can’t find a pad that cheap with all of those features. Durability is good as well, and I expect this to last for years to come. My only negative review is both the pump housing and deflation plug are together at the top side of the pad. They need to separated where the deflation plug is at the bottom (opposite end) of the pad. The current design really makes it hard to remove all the air out of the pad for rolling it up for storage in your backpack. The other, smaller complaint is I wish the pad was 3” thick instead of the 2.7”.
