Featherstone Granite 2P Backpacking Tent

I love the design of this tent. The first night out, it rained unexpectedly, but the fly was easy to throw on quickly, and it kept everything cool and dry inside. It was easy to set up and it's nice and roomy for one person. The included ground cover gives me peace of mind that the floor is protected from damage in rocky areas.

I love this tent so much. I've only had kinda cheap tents before (with the exception of one huge one when I went camping with my family), so this was my first nice tent!! I'm so impressed - I've slept in it overnight both indoors and outdoors now, and even in some rain I stayed totally dry. It's also really easy to set up, and it feels absolutely huge inside. I've never had a tent that had a horizontal pole in the middle, so it feels so much more spacious than other tent's I've used. I'm just getting into backpacking, and I love this tent so much, especially for it's very budget price.

The tent arrived early in good condition. I have only set it up in my backyard, but I may take it on a car/kayak camping trip this weekend or next. It's heavy for backpacking despite the name, but I would take it on short trips. For longer hikes, I use a Backbone 2P trekking pole tent or a Lanshan 1. The Backbone is also roomy and no more trouble to pitch if I fully peg out the Granite. The Granite is free standing, but it needs corner pegs at least for a decent pitch and to avoid the wind blowing it away. It needs all pegs for a tight pitch. Doesn't need the guy lines so much in calm wind. I have a Peridot, so I've essentially setup the Granite before, but the setup is a cinch anyway. The hubs on the Granite's poles are much improved from the Peridot (a couple of years ago). The Peridot's poles can slip out of the hub while pitching, but the new hubs are much more secure. Like Featherstone's products generally, the quality of the tent is excellent, and the price is a bargain, half the price or less of comparable tents. I have three of their tents as well as their closed cell foam mat. They've never disappointed me.
