Having read/listened to expert coffee sources saying that water quality can have a big impact of coffee taste, I wanted to explore whether my local San Antonio TX municipal tap water run through a simple under counter filter (basic, not RO, and infrequently changed) was limiting my pour over results and daily coffee experience.
So I procured Third Wave sample packs, mixed with store biught distilled water, and ran blind taste tests for my wife and me. Good for us and fellow Alamo City residents (and I guess bad for Third Wave), we could not find any discernible difference. I’m sure people in other areas need treated water, but at least for my palate its not needed where I live.
So it was a cheap test that satisfied my curiosity and FOMO… While I wont be a Third Wave customer unless I move, I’m glad to have had their product to confirm my coffee is as good as my beans and technique allow!
