Medium Roast Profile

Some months ago I decided to try the Third Wave product and started with the medium profile. Worked far better than just using the lousy tap water here in central Ohio. The coffee I buy is a bit on the darker roast side, so I currently mix the medium 50/50 with dark roast profile (one pack/gallon then mix them), and the coffee tastes just fine.

Medium roast profile goes well with medium roast coffee.

I started off trying the light roast profile Third Wave water, and I didn’t quite know what I was doing, and later recognizing that I was in fact brewing medium roast coffee I thought I would try the medium roast profile. The difference is subtle, I think, but the medium roast profile does impart a nice smoothness to the coffee I make.

I use 3rd wave water for my SCA Sensory Foundations class that I teach online for Idaho Coffee Institute. It allows me to give my students the same sensory experience in their cupping exercises as they would in person. I can be sure that we are tasting the same notes across the country. It is a fantastic product to achieve consistent clean coffee and also protects your expensive coffee equipment from scale.
