This is the best lathe tool I own by a wide margin. It came perfectly sharpened and ready to go. It cuts better than any other tool I’ve ever used. I’ll definitely be buying some more.

Bottom feeder

The bottom feeder is in our arsenal now. Haven't used it yet but it came nice and sharp like the rest of our tools from Carter and Son. The aluminum handle is just as solid and polished as the gouge. Love them.

Lathe tools on another level

I actually used the Mahoney Bottom Feeder for the first time today on a pretty dry, Black Cherry bowl. While there will be a bit of a learning curve getting used to that bevel angle, it cut those cross grains like a dream. The wood finish was far superior to what I was getting with a traditional bowl gouge. I will definitely be getting more Carter & Son tools in the future.
