⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely worth every penny — the highlight of our bikepacking trip We bought several Luxefly meals as a reward and motivation for a four-day, three-night bikepacking trip where we rode roughly 45–60 miles per day. None of us had ever done a ride of that length before, so we wanted something special waiting for us at camp each night. We brought the Beef Barbacoa Tacos, Banh Mi Curry Noodle Bowl, and Roasted Duck meals, along with meals from a few other well-known freeze-dried brands. The difference wasn’t even close. The Luxefly meals were on an entirely different level. If Luxefly opened a restaurant, I honestly think it would be a very popular high-end foodie destination. These meals were better than many restaurants I’ve eaten at in the Portland area, which is saying a lot. The flavors were incredibly well-balanced, the ingredients tasted fresh, and every meal rehydrated perfectly by simply following the directions on the package. The standout favorite for our entire group was the Beef Barbacoa Tacos. Every single one of us agreed it was the best meal of the trip. The flavor was unbelievable—rich, complex, and perfectly seasoned. It was honestly one of the best barbacoas I’ve ever had, freeze-dried or otherwise. I still have a hard time believing how well it rehydrated after a full day of riding. The Banh Mi Curry Noodle Bowl was another standout, with fantastic depth of flavor and a unique profile that you rarely find in outdoor meals. The Roasted Duck was equally impressive and felt more like restaurant food than camp food. What impressed me most was that these meals don’t taste like someone adapted restaurant food into a freeze-dried product. They taste like a chef truly understands both great cooking and the freeze-drying process and has perfected recipes specifically for this format. After spending all day climbing hills, battling wind, and pushing ourselves farther than we’d ever ridden before, getting back to camp and eating one of these meals was a genuine highlight of the day. They became part of the experience and gave us something to look forward to when the miles got tough. I’ve eaten a lot of freeze-dried meals over the years, and these are without question the best I’ve ever had. Beyond that, they’re simply some of the best food I’ve had in general. We’ll absolutely be bringing Luxefly meals on our next adventure. Highly recommended.

The beef barbacoa was flavorful but a bit too salty for my palate. I was impressed with the amount of beef, very filling.
