A Worthwhile Upgrade
I bought this about a month ago, and took it to my local luthier, who does really good work, to install. He ended up using a different diameter of fret wire from the three provided with the Zero-Glide---I am not sure why, and I observed he did a bit of filing on the bottom of the nut provided. I would say it took him less than an hour to replace the old nut, and to fit the little fret 9and round the cut ends) to his satisfaction, so I was able to wait, and not leave the instrument ( Always a plus!). I have to say, the nut replacement has made my Big Mon much easier to play with good tone at the first fret, and I like the sound, and feel of playing the whole thing better in first-through-third positions. The change is not huge, but I have found it enough to be happy that I made the switch---there is just more joy in the feel of the instrument, and its response, if that makes sense to anyone? Also, the tuning seems to be staying better----something that I was finding aggravating, to the point of considering replacing the tuners, up until I had the Zero-Glide installed. My luthier said he has seen Zerto-Glides used to good advantage on guitars, so I guess they are starting to have a good reputation among serious pickers in general.
