Hockey shirts for dolls

I found the pattern easy to use and the steps orderly and helpful; and I would buy it again. However, I had a lot of frustration with the 'suggested' fabric, a jersey, as it kept getting caught in the machine stitch mechanism. i wondered if the seams were wider, would it help? I also am having a hard time getting a hold of some rib knit. Any suggestions for obtaining it would be appreciated.
