I am new to astronomy and I am fascinated by how much detail the telescope can capture from our balcony! In Vancouver our days are very long right now so capture must start towards midnight for best results. Looking forward to long clear nights in winter! Newcomer to astrophotography

I recently retired, and can now devote time to a long time interest in astronomy and astrophotography. So far Vaonis has made this a clear and enjoyable way to get started. I am very excited for clear dark nights.

Review of Vaonis Filters for Vespera Pro

I’ve purchased all three filters available for the Vespera Pro, and overall, the experience has been very positive. The first thing I’d highlight is how incredibly easy they are to attach and remove. The system is very well designed, allowing you to switch filters in just a few seconds—something you really appreciate during an observing session. The Dual Band Filter is by far the most impactful. Under heavy light pollution conditions (Bortle 8 in my case), the difference is clearly noticeable. When capturing objects like M42 or M43, you can see a significant improvement in contrast and nebula definition against the background. It’s practically a must-have if you’re shooting from urban environments. The Light Pollution Filter, while more subtle, still adds value. It doesn’t produce as dramatic a change as the Dual Band filter, but it helps keep stars cleaner and more defined, which enhances the overall final image. The Solar Filter is also an excellent addition. Being able to safely use the Vespera Pro for solar photography is a huge plus, and it allows you to capture details like sunspots with ease. As for the downside, the plastic storage box could be improved. While it does protect the filters well, the fit is quite tight, making it a bit inconvenient to take them in and out smoothly. Overall, this is a well-designed set of accessories that significantly expands the capabilities of the Vespera Pro, especially for users shooting under urban skies. I’ve included a raw, unprocessed image to clearly demonstrate the results.
