Great tire for the right purpose
I converted an old hardtail to a ‘super gravel’ bike, riding the non technical trails in eastern Boulder County, CO and commuting to work. I had Terreno tires front and rear and added the Mezcal up from and found it corners way better and still rolls fast. To be clear, I am not tackling any super tech single track and suspect I’d need to slow down if doing so. But, great tire for what it is, fast rolling and corners well at speed. I bet it would be great in soft dirt. I have the tan wall xc race version- easy mount, holds air, etc.

My New Vittoria Vs My Schwalbe
So I’ve heard so much positive reviews regarding the Vittoria Mezcal tires, I just wanted to experience the ride, speed, grip etc, Vs my Schwalbe Racing Ralph and Racing Ray, which in my perspective are just OUTSTANDING tires for hardpack and mixed trail riding, for myself. I ride and XC bike and I have to say that the Vittoria’s have caused a OUTSTANDING impression as well. I do feel they are a bit slower than the Schwalbe tires, but I have to be fair saying that the Schwalbe tires I have been running are 2.25 and the Mezcal’s are 2.35, so that difference in speed has to be with the pressure in the tires. I 20lbs in front and 22lbs in the rear with the Schwalbe’s, and have been running the same with the Mezcal’s. So after doing a bit of homework, I will be doing 22lbs in front and 24lbs in the rear! Still a bit under what is recommended based on my weight (205lbs or 95KL). The Mezcals performance is great and have very good grip, curving and rolling resistance. They are very good looking tires and the ride is really comfortable on the trail as on the tarmac! At the end of the day the I believe the pressure anyone runs with is a very personal choice, and will make that difference on the ride! But without a doubt I do love the Vittoria Mezcal tires and recommend them 100%, (excuse the redundancy) great grip, speed, cornering, rolling resistance and as said, they look really cool and make you ride look badass! So go ride em and beat the trail! Of course there are many great fast XC tires out there, but you won’t go wrong with the Vittoria Mezcal tires!!🤙
