Loved, worn, repeat… until now.

I’ve been a loyal Universal Standard jeans buyer for years, and almost exclusively because of their Black Friday sale. I simply cannot justify $100+ jeans in my regular budget, but like clockwork, every year they dropped to around $35—finally putting genuinely great denim within reach for me. And they were great. These jeans are juuuuust stretchy enough, hit exactly where I want a high-rise to sit, and somehow manage to be skinny without making me feel like I’m being vacuum-sealed into my own body. For my body type, they were close to perfect. That said, my thighs do what thick thighs have always done: they love each other deeply and destroy denim in the process. So yes, I’m an annual returning customer—not because the jeans are indestructible, but because when they were affordable, they were worth replacing. This year, though, the Black Friday price jumped. And that was the breaking point. At the new sale price, I can no longer justify staying loyal. The cost of clothing oneself in denim is already absurd, and this was the one time of year Universal Standard felt accessible to me. Now it doesn’t. So I’ll be taking my money elsewhere and starting the hunt for a new pair of jeans to fall in love with. Thanks for the memories, Universal Standard—you truly had me, and you truly fumbled this customer.
