Disappointing decaff beans

I was so excited to finally have found truly medium roasted decaff beans. I hate the burnt taste of a dark roast whether regular or decaff. I had a hard time finding decaffeinated medium roast beans, and then found Foxtail. I had previously ordered 2 Foxtail bags of 12 oz decaf beans and was so impressed with their quality. These were beans roasted to a brown, not to a black color and eating a bean by itself, or drinking a brewed coffee or espresso was so delicious, without the burnt taste. So I ordered a 5lb bag. To my great disappointment, these decaff Foxtail beans cannot compare to my prior order. This 5 lb bag has black beans, perhaps occasionally a brown bean. It tastes burnt whether I eat a bean or drink coffee or espresso. I understand that the natural color of coffee beans varies based on origin. I understand that the decaff process prior to roasting darkens the beans. But my prior purchase was of a much higher qualitry. I still have the same superautomatic Miele espresso machine I used for my prior decaff Foxtail order. My current order shows poor quality control, in my opinion. I can buy burnt tasting decaff beans anywhere. 1 star rating for the Colombia Decaff! On the brighter side, the 12 oz medium roast Houseblend is delicious, whether espresso or coffee brew. 5 stars rating for the Houseblend. Based on ordering 5 lbs decaff beans and only 12 oz caffeinated medium roast shows how much decaff vs caffeinated coffee/espresso I drink. Foxtail, you have so disappointed me.

I got hooked on a trip to Jacksonville, visited the Foxtail coffee shop. I have been a loyal customer by mail for over 2 years. Love all the different roasts and blends with Farmhouse being my go to.
