Candy dust

Candy Dust is exactly what the name suggests: a cloud of colorful candy dust. It opens with bright, sweet fruity notes — raspberry, pear, something vaguely berry-like — but I don’t really perceive them as actual fruit. What I notice immediately is a lot of flavoring. And I don’t necessarily mean that as a criticism. The fragrance isn’t unpleasant at all. It’s playful, sweet and powdery, but my nose immediately picks up the synthetic construction behind it: fruit-candy flavorings, sugary accords, gummies and powdered sweets. Rather than smelling like real fruit, it smells like the idea of fruit translated into candy. There is something almost “digital” about the sweetness — polished, exaggerated and hyperreal. Raspberry without the tartness and seeds, pear without the skin or juicy flesh, sugar that doesn’t actually smell like sugar. As it dries down, the candy cloud becomes softer and more powdery, with a clean modern woody-amber background underneath. Synthetic? Absolutely. Chemical-smelling? A little. Unpleasant? Not at all. In fact, that obvious artificiality seems completely intentional — and somehow Candy Dust makes it work.

I’m obsessed with this perfume. Yes… it’s a candy scent perfectly balanced. Love it!
