Dirty Rice

Dirty Rice opens soft and slightly abstract—creamy almond and a milky basmati rice accord that feels warm, nutty, and a little skin-like rather than overtly gourmand. There’s a faint floral lift in the background (peony, bergamot) but the main impression is smooth sandalwood wrapped in a powdery, lactonic haze. It doesn’t read as “dirty” in a literal sense—it’s more cozy, skin-close, and subtly sweet, like warm rice pudding or steamed rice milk on skin. As it dries down, it leans into creamy sandalwood, musk, and soft woods with a gentle vetiver edge. The rice note becomes more atmospheric than distinct, blending into a clean, slightly musky skin scent. Projection stays intimate, and performance is moderate, but the vibe is comforting, minimal, and quietly addictive—more “soft memory” than statement fragrance.

I had kinda written this off after all the reviews of people saying it smelled sweaty, sour milk or straight up nothing at all. It was such a lovely surprise the second I spritzed it! I find it sweet, lactonic, creamy. Omg so creamy!! It reminds me of creames rice pudding and has a soft and deft diffusion. So excited to have this as a skin scent. Its a beautiful base layer

Dirty Rice is gorgeous, but fleeting.

Of the seventeen samples in my order, Dirty Rice was my absolute favorite. It starts out with smooth and mildly almondly woods that gracefully melt over time into rice notes with lactonic overtones. It’s gorgeous. The only thing stopping me from ordering a full-size bottle is the fact that it faded quite quickly. At BTSO prices, I require more longevity and greater sillage, but that may just be my personal skin chemistry. I’m still considering purchasing it, regardless, because it’s just so lovely. It’s a gorgeous scent, and you should definitely check it out if you’re looking for a wonderful rice fragrance.
