Best machine for the money

Bought the machine on a whim. I’ve been looking for a machine for a while and finally got the courage to purchase the Xe ultra after reading many reviews. Easy to set up and get running. Bought the vfd spindle, which was a great choice. Only cut wood so far (and an improperly sunk screw) but cut like butter, including the steel screw head! Impressed. Since bought the rotary axis…. But need to get my confidence up before attempting rotary projects.

Spindle

When you buy a great machine, why not step up to an even better spindle. This spindle has POWER! When I first started using the Fox Alien XE-Ultra 8080 with the upgraded spindle I didn’t realize that one of my clamps was in the way, it cut right through my clamp without any hesitation. Of course I stopped and licked my wounds. Now is that power!? Please don’t do what I did the clamp will live on but the end mill wasn’t so lucky. For extra speed you could never go wrong with this upgrade. If I didn’t believe this I would never say it. GET ONE! Now make some chips even faster.

XE Ultra 8080

The CNC machine is great. How ever the Candle software that came with it is very bad. Not very user friendly and unable to make it report in inches instead of millimeters. I use Vetric Pro design software and nowhere on that program or online could I find the specific gcode such as gal to use.
