If peak production is low, no no.
Depending on the size of your solar system the upgrade really isn't worth it if your system will not produce excess power to send to your EV or other devices. Less than 1kw per day was sent to my EV until I increased the size of my system. Take your hourly protection plus consumption into consideration. It was worth it for me because I now have a 10kw system producing as much as 6kw per hour at certain times of the day. Half of that probably isn't worth the upgrade unless you're consumption is is minimal.
