Rediscover Grounding Barefoot Hiking Boot (Women's) - Dune

Had high hopes but sadly disappointed

I've had these boots for 3 months now. Started off fine and got used to them almost straight away, I'm used to wearing large toe box footwear. I really got them for the grounding feature and I do feel it made me feel better, calmer wearing them. Went on several day walks with my hiking group and no problems, they were even waterproof when I splashed around in them at the waters edge by the beach. Then I went on a hiking trip and at the end of the first day my right ankle was really sore and it was painful to walk in them. I had a rest day then the next days hike I could feel my right ankle again and it looked a little swollen, no blisters just sore, painful and rubbing on the boot. Finally a week later I went a short walk in them through long grass after torrential rain and they both let water in, my feet were swimming in water and I could pour the water out of both boots when I took them off. Didn't want to leave a negative review but this has just been my experience.

I absolutely love the look and level of waterproofing these practical yet stylish hiking boots have… sadly they are just so stiff, I was really disappointed. Can’t really class them as barefoot when the soles barely flex at all unfortunately. I’m absolutely gutted because in every other way they are perfect for what I needed and they stated “highly flexible” which is just not the case. I think returns are expensive so looks like I’ll be selling them on sadly.

It feels like a solid shoe, and I like it very much that the sole is made out of earthing materials. The material is very tough though and it takes a long time to break in. I still get some blistering on my heels even after several weeks of wearing. Overall I miss the barefoot feeling, for me they feel quite heavy and clunky on my feet. Might be a good standard to barefoot transition shoe for some people.
