Despite being serviced by the crowd that I purchased the machine from the Lime scale filter was never changed , twelve years maybe ? I think the filter had welded itself into a solid block and not because of scale, old age more likely. Had a brief chat to another espresso tech and he suggested checking the flow of the pump , didn’t bother, as it was a new pump , it dawned on me that the item in line was the filter , remove shook it and the lump slowly broke apart , reinstalled and the pump-flow was out of sight . Purchased 3 filters I will replace on a more regular basis maybe every two years not twelve .
