The Rose (1898)

Zen and the art of paint by number! What a delightful experience this was watching this painting come to life. This was my first purchase with Canvas by Numbers and I was enjoying the process so much that i bought another kit not even a 4th of the way through this one, it's a Klimt this time and I'm already well into it. The acrylic paints that come with the kit are richly colored and have a nice flowy texture.. I highly recommended getting a good magnifying glass though, for me it's a necessity, my aging eyes.

This was my first paint by numbers ever. The paints provided by the company were great, nice consistency and enough for the whole canvas. The paint brushes were also appreciated, though since this particular painting was so detailed, I needed to cut the bristles to make them even thinner. The colours on the painting itself are not all like the image I've uploaded of my picture. I've added additional hair details and the original colours needed a lot of changing and blending work in the skin of the female in the painting. In addition, I changed several of my colours to more closely match the original Mucha artwork. Overall, I'd say this painting took me 75-100 hours to complete and I am very pleased with the result. I would buy from this company again for sure, but I would try to get a picture without a human as the main subject next time.

Canvas by Numbers definitely has the best quality paintings out there even though they are a little pricier, they are worth it. The paints are always a great consistency and the numbers are generally pretty easy to read. The Rose is super detailed and probably one of the hardest I’ve ever done but I know the friend I’m gifting this to will love it!
