Grado Headphone Replacement B-Cushions

These new ear pads from Grado seem more like a cash grab than a genuine upgrade. Unfortunately, once you’ve tried them, they cannot be returned, which makes the purchase even more frustrating. I tested them on my Grado GS3000e, and the results were terrible. The overall fidelity dropped noticeably, the soundstage became smaller, and the clarity suffered significantly. It almost sounds as if a filter has been placed over the music, introducing a layer of haze and reducing transparency. Switching back to the original ear pads immediately restored the sound. Clarity improved dramatically, the presentation opened up, and the headphones once again sounded like the GS3000e I know and enjoy. I’m not sure what equipment or listening tests Grado used when developing these pads, but on the GS3000e they were a major step backward. The stock pads are vastly superior in every way. If I could give these less than one star, I would. Buyer beware: once you try them, you cannot return them.
